True Shorthorn cattle have a legitimate claim to a major influence in the development of agriculture in a number of countries, not least being the United States of America. From their birth and development on the grassy hills and runs of Scotland, the "Shorthorn - or 'Durham' as formerly called by many farmers in the United States", was brought to the shores of America to provide milk, meat, and power for the farmer.
